Meandering…: A Poem by Amrita Mallik

Like a sheet of snow wandering on the vast ocean,
I am drifting away.. All alone on an eerie adventure,
I am awed by the colossal grandeur of the emerald blue waters,
My heart’s beating and my fingers turning cold,
Scared of loneliness I fumble first,
Yet, sooner, I tap into the harmony,
What a delightful trip I’m taking!
Away from the world I abhor,
Away from the constant pressure to be a superhuman,
Aha! A dream and balm for many frustrated souls,
Here I am actually meandering into the quaint gullies,
Of warmth and affection of natural bounties,
And silently whispering prayers of liberty,
A human being that I’m.. Bound to be empathetic.
