Love That Never Fades: A Poem by Rajesh Kakkar

Do emotions have a season or an expiry date?

Does indifference turn to love or love turn to hate?

School friends and college crushes, last while they last

And remain only memories of good times in the past

Parents and siblings are relations, close as close can be

You thought they would be forever, but that was not to be

Age took some away, while others pulled by new relations

You remembered all, as your train passed these stations

Your children were your world, your weakness, your pride

And when they moved on in life, you took it in your stride

The only one who stayed with you, with love deep and true

Is your spouse with whom you share one heart and body two

Sometimes, you showed your love and saw the same expressed

But mostly, for the love that never fades, you simply felt blessed
