Joiee hummed a tune while cuddling her one-year-old son. Her elder son, four years old, turned back each time he launched his monster truck to see if his mother was watching him. They were naturally wired to share their ‘sparkle moments’, the little things that made life worth living. Joiee, a Computer Engineer as well as an M.B.A., torn between her career and her kids, ultimately chose her kids over her career. She had no regrets for that. She realized, life was short like fading flowers and would fleet. But it could be great as long as she followed her heart and protected herself as well as her loved ones. The pure joy of watching them being kids and reliving all those first moments when they smiled, giggled, cried with deep tearful rivers flowing down their cheeks, and then all forgotten being transfixed by their toy cars, was a life-altering experience for Joiee. She felt so happy watching them playing games together or taking pride in their new accomplishments. There was nothing like the antics of the kids to get her grounded. What a gift it was to see them grow and blossom. Just waking up from sleep and see their smiling, loving faces, breathing in the smell of their hairs, made her want to go another day. Reveling with them in the colors of sunset, watching them run after beautiful butterflies and squirrels, perceive them move freely and fluidly, run to swings, brought her the gift of dancing in the present moments with them and made her feel that each moment was a new beginning. She understood, living in the moment was the most important thing, not the future. Her kids taught her to be appreciative of every moment they had together as a family. She wanted to live that completely – listen, feel, love, absorb and enjoy. She did not need anymore for tomorrow to be happy, her present moments were so rich, rewarding, so precious. There was no tomorrow, no yesterday, only the present moments to savor and cherish. What satisfaction, fulfillment and happiness!
