The Love Song: A Poem by Gowri Bhargav

I pen my verses of love,
In a parchment inked with my blood,
‘Neath the moonlit sky,
And recite them to thee
Unendingly.

Thy petalled lips stay muted,
They fail to respond,
But adorn a gentle subliminal smile.
I fervently lift thy chin
to seek answers from thine eloquent eyes
that brim with emotions infinite.
Thy halcyon eyes meet mine,
And narrate the passion brewing within thy throbbing heart,
Like the ebbing waves that seek to kiss the shore,
They yearn for me…
While I express my love for thee in words,
Thou choose silence.
Hark! Pure love hides in silence too – a silence etched with the unheard songs of the soul
that words oft fail to express.
