Now I Walk Alone

When I was young,

I was surrounded by friends,

And smiling relatives were plenty,

But much older, now I walk alone.

On this journey, many come and go,

Some stay, some disappear,

Some walk with you, winter, spring and summer,

But much older, now I walk alone.

I shared my laughter with many,

But my pain with none,

There was always a crowd around me,

But much older, now I walk alone.

I now prefer solitude, crowds I shun,

Calm is my mind, empty of passion,

I am waiting to cross the bar,

Waiting to go among the stars.

This earth is just a resting place,

And all of us have to share space,

We come alone and go alone,

Finally we are left with none.
