In a Drizzling Morning: A Poem by Srividya Subramanian

A whispering drizzle awakens the world

A struggling Sun tries to rule the day.

Gently nudges the listless to take a step bold,

See the sparkling pearly drops on nature

And the centipedes who brave their way.

To see tiny legs jumping on shallow puddles

Giggling and squirming in colored raincoats,

Or just sip hot tea with friends in huddles

Laughing at their contorted images in water

Where we gather to race our paper boats.

A quiet drizzle ensues an incessant activity,

Giving humans hope of fresh beginnings,

In surroundings replete with sanctity,

Breathing a sigh of relief after threatening thunders

It’s time to enjoy the rain’s melodious singing!
