Motherhood: A poem by Soma Bhowmik

Before 25th December
 It was the Christmas eve
That my doctor confirmed
I have conceived
Floating with joy In various emotions
All my nerves Got different sensations
Everything was new
And yet to be understood
Is it the feeling
That we call motherhood?
Finally, the day arrived
I took my baby, he looked at me
All discomfort vanished and I was free
Days weeks and months passed
It was the time for my son’s award
For serving his country and motherland
I was standing still and listening
The sound of the big band
Holding the award of
My late son, in my hand
Everything was new
And yet to be understood
Is it the feeling
That we call motherhood?
