I hear the voice of silence,
As it whispers to my soul.
I try to decipher its language,
Yet lose it in life’s noisy chores.
Again, it sends its signals
To my weary, restless mind.
I listen, helpless and searching,
But its words, I cannot find.
While lying beneath the starry sky,
I hear a faint, gentle sound
Familiar, soft, and affectionate,
Now touching my heart profound.
I try to peer into the darkness,
To see who stands by my side.
But slowly I drift into slumber,
As a lullaby becomes my guide.
And in that hush between dreams and silence
Where mortal thoughts grow dim,
The whisper I could never decipher
Finally leads my soul to peace within.
