Unrequited Love

One-sided love pains,

Sadness lingers in my heart,

Implications deep.

Time’s dust may dim it,

But erasure is unsure,

Heartbreak lingers on.

Valid reasons loom,

Age, minds, and worlds apart,

Love’s path obscured.

No reciprocation,

Attraction fades away,

Such agony felt.

In this war within,

Destroying oneself.
