To My Mother: A Poem by Jayashree Bhattacherjee

Mom, do red roses bloom in Paradise ? I believe, they do
How I wish to send a message to an angel to pick ‘n proffer them to you
I’d ask them to place those flowers in your arms so fine
On Mother’s Day,  that would be a gift from me to my love divine
The gentle rustle blowing through every petal and fold
Will speak of my true love for you that forever remains to unfold
My royal queen,  you play the melody of my heart
A precious boon, a timeless tune, a work of art
Not only on Mother’s Day,  but everyday  I say
You’ve always been my joy, in every single way
Our time together through stormy and sunny weather
Are now memories  I deeply treasure, moments of profound pleasure
There are not enough words to describe how you mean the world to me
Your days on earth are over, yet a powerful influence you continue to be
I love you to the moon and back, remember when you turned to smile
I’d place a kiss upon your cheek and hold you tight for a while
From the time I wake up I miss you Mom each day
There’s always an ache in my heart that will never go away
I am lucky to have an angel in my life, I call Ma, my dear Mother
A priceless treasure, God’s masterpiece, no substitute,  there’ll  never be another
