The waves of the Danube: A poem by Ljubica Stojanovic

Standing by the shore, I hear the noise of the blue Danube
A gentle breeze caresses my face,
She sheds tears of joy as I wait for the ship to arrive,
To celebrate your arrival.

The sun is shining, melting my cravings
I looked for a shade under a sad willow,
Maybe they will understand my sadness,
While I wait for the passage of the ship,
To you on deck, how you greet me.

Tired of hoping and waiting,
The twilight of twilight and night arrives.
I feel helpless and the imagination sows thoughts,
The waves absorb them and whisper to me:
Wait, your boat is late, but it’s coming…
