The Two Trees: A Poem by Manisha Amol

The colossal trees were the gardens pride
A major attraction for the tourists’ guide
They heard the officers sharing some other plans
They stood side by side discussing their concerns

First tree:

A new dreadful plan is being launched
To carve out a tree house on my
branches stout
The officers mind is dunked with intolerance
To wash away my grandeur and steal my radiance

This entire process is of betrayal and complicity
Though I was a prime witness of their magnanimity
My majestic crown will be destroyed and shattered
No birds will chirp, no songs to remember

The other tree:

Do not get perturbed, there are two sides of a coin
Your fresh look will, spiritedly roar like a lion
Visitors will surely appreciate the newness of yours
A magnificent tree holding a modern and artistic house

This ethereal sight would be pleasing to the eyes
People will throng for a restful recourse, far from cries
A mystical abode for them, a place for relaxing
You will witness moments of delightful bonding
