The Flower You Gave Me: A Poem by Vasudha Pansare

The petals of the flower you gave me,
Have dried up between the pages
Of my precious old diary,
But our memories are still fresh.
The pink petals have faded,
And so has the blush on my cheek,
But the flower remains dewy,
In my dreams and memory.
Your eloquent silence was enough,
To say everything in your heart,
Our eyes met and we understood without words,
The feelings that within us stirred.
Ah the romance of those wonderful days,
Will bring a smile on my lips always,
We are old and grey now,
But our memories are still green.
That flower has disintegrated in my diary,
But our love remains strong,
We have spent a lifetime together,
The petals have crumbled but we have each other.
