Spring: A poem by Nisha Tandon

When my heart blithely hums a melodic song

And for reasons unknown, smiles my forsaken soul
When the little child in me carelessly breaks into a dance
I know sanguine Spring is eventually knocking at my door

It’s finally time to bid goodbye to winter blues
As the lumbering Sun rises in wispy clouds
We bask in gentle rays of the fitful sunshine
And empty streets get flocked with jaunty crowds

A soft, fragrant breeze lingers in the air
Whispering sweet nothings gently into my ears
Migrating birds return and flit from branch to branch
Singing melodious songs through vanishing fears

From the barren soil out spring dazzling flowers
And in their full glory dance in ecstasy to windy tunes
Seeds awaken as nascent leaves blossom amidst drizzles
And soon meadows are widely scattered with vivid blooms

Brooks meander graciously through alleys and woodlands
As frondescence bedeck the face of desolate Earth
Time for new beginnings as hopes get rekindled
Clearing remnants of winter, arrives Spring, the season of birth
