Spring: A poem by Jayashree Bhattacherjee

Nature bursting forth with all its hues in the opulent Spring
Fond memories of the light of the other days to me does bring
It was in the beautiful Spring we first did meet
Around us the birds hopped and played, the flowers kissed our feet
Hand in hand we walked under the large dome of blue and white
The Spring of our love was so exuberant, tender and sweet
As the green flame wavered on the  grass longing to embrace the flower
Passionately we envisioned each other with scarlet desire
The spectacular sights of the  riotous Spring kindled the glow of our passion
Like the moth, we burned with ecstasy, joy, love, and emotion
With the wild Spring, our hearts too were wild and gay
Your eyes said more to me than your lips would ever say
The scent of the bright-hued flowers and mango blossoms so sweet
You broke me a blossoming bough with flowers rich
All earth’s ecstasy we found in our Garden of Eden
Living life to the brim we luxuriously enjoyed the season
This Spring when the flashes of the fascinating hues linger on
Your absence makes me think of our love of the days bygone
You may not be with me, but the Spring will come each year
Reminding me of the Spring of my love, whom I’ll forever hold dear.
