Somewhere, far away,
Amidst a stretch of barren land,
I took a walk,
For reasons that I am yet to decipher.
Was it the starkness that drew me
Or the tiny leaf between two rocks
Struggling to emerge?
I took a wary step, uncertain
Of the winds that blew
The dust in my face,
And then took another step.
I was alone: and yet not lonely,
Just like the pebbles and the birds
And the floating clouds.
I walked in silence and listened to my soul.
I heard songs that I had never heard before.
That day I learned something new.
The road not taken is never empty.
It holds within its crevasses
Voices that never die.
