Mother, I look a little like you,
Whenever I drape a saree, I resemble you.
A big bindi on my forehead, bangles on my hands,
Even I tie my hair in a bun like the way you do.
As I look at myself in the mirror, I think of you.
I smile inside out with a blush of pride too!
Your rebukes wrapped in those key lessons,
As I do share those with my little one.
Those things which I often ignored then have now become important do’s and dont’s!
With my daughter, all instructions in a flow,
Mother, I see your image in myself on a roll!
You taught me to speak softly with kindness,
Explained about affection and patience.
Made me aware of respect and moral values.
You trained me about the relationship between speech and tolerance.
Whenever I embrace tolerance, I look exactly like you.
Mother, I look somewhat like you.
