Present Matters (A Haibun)
My eyes turn moist. A lump chokes the throat. Along with a delightful pageant of pleasant memories, a journey down the memory lane also evokes a host of disturbing emotions, especially pain, regret, guilt and even self-condemnation over certain past follies, and how I could have lived my life in a better way to enjoy a peaceful present. Also, unspecified fears and worries about the future impact my emotional well-being, despite being aware that wisdom lies in learning from past experiences to build a joyous present, while the future is left best to destiny. My self-analysis, reflections and introspection lead me to a conclusion.
