Love in the Rains

Monsoon…the word says it all!

It is the time of the year which gives us so many memories to keep with us forever. I am sure each one of us has at least one romantic memory of the monsoon. Rains always have a special place in my heart as I found my love during this season!

Sachin was a friend whom I could confide in. We shared almost everything – our laughter, our tears. I always felt his love for me but he never confessed so I wasn’t sure. I was also not sure about my feelings for him. We finished our graduation and started working. He shifted to Pune while I worked in Mumbai. We got busy with our careers.

After almost two years, I visited Pune for some office work. It was the month of June, the rains were at their best.

I called him and we decided to meet after work. I was feeling so conscious about meeting him after a long gap. But he was the same, and that beautiful and familiar friendly smile greeted me! I was so happy to see him and tried hard to avoid my face from blushing. But I am sure it was in vain. We sat in a coffee shop and chatted like never before.

As it was getting late and pouring heavily, I decided to leave. With a heavy heart, he agreed. We waited for the bus but could not get a single seat in any of them. Sachin finally said that he would drop me to Mumbai!

I could see the sudden spark in his eyes as if this is what he wanted all the while. The weather was so peaceful. It was raining lightly with greenery on both the sides and cool air caressing the skin. It was a perfect weather for driving.

We crossed the city and came to the highway and suddenly Sachin held my hand. I was taken aback. I was absolutely not prepared for this.

He confessed, “There can be no perfect time than this. I tried saying this for years but could not. I have been trying since we met in the coffee shop. I love you. I can’t even think of a life without you. Will you share your life with me forever? Will you marry me?”

My joy had no bounds, I suddenly realized how much I loved him. Tears started rolling down my cheeks. I just managed to say “Yes, I want to be with you for my whole life”.

We were so happy!

He held my hand in his and we drove through the beautiful Lonavala. Suddenly he stopped the car and said, “Come, let’s have a cup of tea.” We got down at the roadside shack, and had a cup of hot masala tea and pakoras! It was the best roadside snack and tea I ever had.

Later he dropped me to Mumbai and we parted, but a beautiful love story had just started!
