I am a pilgrim on this way,
And all I own is just today.
My feet know nothing but the ground,
My ears hear only a silent sound.
I left the names and heavy years,
The tangled hopes and bitter fears.
My hands are empty, they are clean,
My heart sees what the world has seen.
I do not walk to find a place,
Or to be blessed by a holy face.
I walk to meet the person deep,
In promises a soul can keep.
So let the sun set, let it rise,
This journey is my great surprise.
A pilgrim’s life, a simple plea,
To walk until I’m truly me.
