Hotel: A Poem by Shashi Dhar Kumar

A golden glow through glass doors wide,
A weary traveller steps inside.
Marble floors and chandeliers are bright,
A haven found in neon light.
The bellboy nods, the lobby hums,
A thousand voices, distant drums.
Luggage rolling, whispers low,
Stories are hidden in their flow.
The key turns soft, the door swings free,
A world within is just meant for me.
Crisp white sheets, a window view,
The city’s heart beats fresh and new.
A hallway whispers in the night,
Footsteps echo, dimmed in light.
Doors are secrets, locked away,
Each room is a tale from yesterday.
And when the dawn spills golden beams,
The dream dissolves like fleeting dreams.
A suitcase shuts, the road calls back,
Another guest will take my track.
