Homecoming: A poem by Indrani Chowdhury

The fragrance of jasmine flowers,
Gliding with a soft breeze,
Ferries with itself the tales of its land,
To its native, traveling afar.
The freshly brewed breeze,
Brings him welcoming news,
Unlocking the bolted doors,
His deep-buried memories ajar.
And he lets himself immerse in it,
Raising a toast to it,
For some priceless moments,
Reliving the past.
Those known alleys, that brook unbound,
Her stolen kisses, his love profound,
Flashes before his eyes, revealing their beauty paramount.
He feels as if they were beckoning him and saying,
“Its high time that you pay heed to our entreaties, dear friend,
Its high time that you seek refuge in homecoming
