Goodbye pink ….forever: A poem by Bhargavi Ravindra

More than her charm and grace…was known for her love… her craze for pink!
Her garden was full of colorful flowers, yet hypnotized people stood in awe,
At the sheer beauty of a bunch of pink roses in all shades!
On her special days, her gifts were Pink…pink…all the way pink ….wrapped in pink…
Her joyful heart and dreamy eyes held nothing but pink
In her youthful exuberance, she thought pink is all about health and happiness,
All too soon, was jolted out of her trance, her worst fears confirmed.
A pink ribbon tied to her file explained what words failed
A slap on her cheek turned ugly pink, breast cancer diagnosed…
Her pink world came crashing down like a pack of cards
She felt feeble, life slipping out through her fingers like sand
It took the wind out of her sail, negativity raising its scarry head
The sky bathed in Pink… she challenged its charm
Each passing day as pink ribbon tightened its grip, she prayed for courage, eager to fight it out.
One last time she looked at the pink dawn gloriously streaming in,
Then she was inside the dark confines of the theatre
She opened her eyes to evening sun filling her room with a pink hue
She cut herself out from shackles of pink ribbon… she all but hated,
Now she proudly displays pink ribbon as a Brest cancer survivor
In a choked voice she screams… come fight it out…say “Goodbye PINK forever!”
