Give me wings: A poem by Anjana Prasad

Give my dreams, wings to fly and soar high
over the lofty mountains and valleys green
across the rivers and sea, to swim out of pain
under my veil, I too seek fresh air to breathe.

Freedom to flutter, to relish on heavenly nectar.
blow away nightmares of oppression
the freedom of a new dawn, to celebrate like birds
a scent of spring, that’s rejuvenating for a change

Set me free, give me the freedom to rejoice
I promise to forget the dust of past agonies
let’s rectify the time with you and me, together
to emerge as a star, among stars bright and shiny

My love, listen to my silent calls
all tears are lost, all hopes are lost
for death is also a celebration
freedom from all miseries.
