Fleeting Moments: A Poem by Sangeetha Kamath Prabhu

Spun with gossamer threads dainty like a wisp
They come floating on warm summer’s day or an autumn’s day crisp
They’re the fire and flame, the welcome raindrops that kiss my soul
Whimsical lands beckon me in daydreams, they make me forget my worries and cares…
Harmonious melodies I listen to of bygone days, of the old gold eras to bring them back…
Everlasting memories flow when poetries I ink
Night sky speckled with stars looks as if diamonds at me wink!
Myriad moments of childhood rush in when
yesteryears seem like long-forgotten dreams
My heartstrings are tugged hopelessly when deja-vu overwhelms
Twilight ushers in amaranthine hues, to my tired eyes, it’s a welcome treat
The incandescence of the pearly full moon has me in a trance
A scintilla of the crescent, the heavenly smile makes me want to dance.
Utopian is my far-flung hope, one day I hope the universe blesses me whole…
These fleeting moments are a luminescence of dappled sunny puddles
They’re the lustrous rainbows that make me yearn to ride them and fly yonder…
If you thought you had a hold on them, you can think again.
I’ll slip between your fingers like grains of sand, they say
You can neither cage me, freeze me
Nor stop me! I’ll zip, zoom, flash, fly…
I’ll never return to the same moment even if you regret or cry!
