Expectations: A Poem by Richa Srivastava

You’re not born with them,
You sow the seeds and reap them.
From seeds of love and hope,
Expectations! they slowly grow.
You tend to them carefully,
Or they will grow and act arbitrarily.

Sometimes they push you hard,
Just enough to raise the bar!
Sometimes they pull you back,
And leave your spirits under attack!

Life is like a board game,
Where expectation is a dice!
You have to take your chance and roll,
and let the dice decide!

A push or a pull! whatever unfolds,
Be brave, embrace, be bold!
Expectations come with outcomes,
You see that’s not under your control.
Choose to crib, quit or give in to them,
Or play on with grace to reach your goal.
