Broken Heart: A poem by Sampurna Chatterjee Ganguly

My eyes now I dread to close in every tenebrous night,
Only the broken dreams cavort in them obscuring my sight,
My heart palpitates languidly,
Wishing the pains to end completely,
Alas ! my pillow gathers the salty taste,
That flows down my cheeks in spate.
Yet ev’ry night I try to pick up the broken pieces of my dreams,
But that stings of betrayal pierce into my soul it seems,
Ev’ry night my existence is torn,
Making my heartbreak anew and forlorn,
Ev’ry night I dip my pen into the ink of pain,
Ev’ry night I compose a new sonnet of a broken heart again.
