Who or what inspired you to embark your journey in the field of Arts?
When I was four years old, I started enjoying freehand drawing and colouring. My mother was the first to note that I had some talent. She is the strongest force behind all I am today.
At school, I remember my artwork being shown to other students and the class clapping for me. Encouragement from my friends and teachers also inspired me to carry on.
Have you pursued any formal or professional training in arts or are you self-taught?
I am self-taught.
What is your practice routine?
There is no set routine. I draw/paint whenever my creative urges take over.
Who has been your biggest influence or inspiration for your growth in arts?
My mother’s belief in me has kept the artist in me alive. She is no more but her memory and the memory of her encouraging words keeps me going.
How do you approach creating new artwork? Do you follow some personal guidelines?
For the past few years, I have been painting a theme that I depict on twin canvases instead of a ‘stand-alone’ image.
Perhaps the poet in me has merged with the artist…..
In every brushstroke,
Colours and words merge.
The rhythm of verse and hues,
Echo the patterns I lovingly choose.
My canvases whisper,
A story, a feeling, a theme.
The poet within, paints the artist’s dream,
Together, I craft a vision, a theme!
Which is your preferred medium for art?
I like to paint acrylic on canvas or try my hand at watercolours on drawing sheets.
Tell us about your art goals for this year.
I do not follow a structured pattern. I just go with the flow.
What would you advise aspiring artists, especially the ones who consider themselves too old to start with this creative form of expression?
Art has no expiration date,
Pick up your brush before it is too late.
Unleash your ability,
Inspire others with your creativity!
