ALS National Writers Sprint 2025

ALS is all set with another exciting writing opportunity, “National Writers Sprint 2025”.

It is the time of festivities around different cultures. Festivities bring new joy and energy, and it is a perfect time to hone our creativity and pen our experiences that shape our thoughts.

The “National Writers Sprint 2025” or NWS 2025 will be for a period of 40 days, as it was last year. I will reiterate the reason for choosing a 40-day period.

A 40-day period is considered significant under many traditions for developing a new habit, altering a negative one, or building self-discipline and self-control, whether through meditation, walking, yoga, getting up early, reading, sketching, or writing. Once a consistent practice of 40 days is completed, it becomes a part of your routine or lifestyle. It is also called “Charam Chalisa”, “Sadhana” or “Lent”. It is also believed that every 40 to 48 days, human physiology goes through a cycle called a mandala.

We, at ALS, are committed to making writing a consistent habit for our community members.

Here are some key guidelines for NWS 2025:

1. NWS 2025 will begin from 1st Nov 2025 (so enjoy your festivities!) and will end on 10^th December 2025.
2. The writers are free to choose their writing genre, as well as writing form. So, you can write a poem, a short story, or even commence a novel at the beginning of NWS and continue adding words each day. You can also decide to write poetry on some days and a short story on others. Just keep writing!
3. The poem should be of a minimum of 10 lines (no maximum limit), and the short story should have a minimum of 200 words (no maximum limit). For novel writers, you should write at least 500 words each day.
4. You can pen your writings in English/ Hindi.
5. A prompt will be shared each day for a poem/ short story. The use of the prompt is optional.
6. Please post your writings every day at the ALS Facebook group as a separate post along with a relevant picture.
7. Do not let your creativity be restricted by the word limit or the prompt given.
8. Those who complete the NWS 2025 by writing for 40 days will be given an e-certificate after completion.
9. Those who complete NWS would be offered a chance to get their poems/ short stories/novels published at a special discounted price by Novoquill Publications. Any queries regarding the same may be sent to [email protected]
