The abstract: A poem by Gigi Balita

If life is only a dream
Where unreal shapes are pictured
If life is but a mere shadow
That mimics all we believe
Who will lift its painted veil
blinding us to see another view hanging?

If life is a lonely highway
Made only for us to cross
If life is like a journey
Full of roads and bridges
Who will tell us to explore,
To trudge where fortune is waiting?

If life is a precious gift
Wrapped with heartaches and pains
Who will strip it and show us
The beautiful treasure of package
underneath?

If life can be a little book
With days written on every line
Who closes it once a page is full
And opens it up again to bring
another chapter of the story?

Is there any sense to what is Life,
Is there any reason at all?
Strangely unfathomable this
questionable fact
Completely mysterious this abstract
reality.
