Krishna’s Melody of Love

(Reviving an old tale of ‘Bal Krishna’ as Krishna Janm-Ashtami’ is around the corner.)

Little Krishna was lazing near the Yamuna when he heard the heartbreaking cry of a calf.

The tiny calf stood trembling beneath a Kadamba tree, unable to find its mother. Krishna gently stroked its head, but the calf continued to sob.

Smilingly, Krishna lifted his flute and played a sweet melody. The music floated like a cool breeze. The calf stopped crying and lay down at the feet of Krishna.

Soon a lowing echoed through the meadow. The mother cow came running, her eyes seeking her child. The calf leapt towards her. Krishna’s flute sang happily beneath the golden sky.

Love

The colossal green tree harboured a small nest wherein there were two tiny chicks chirping day in and day out, eagerly awaiting their mother to come and feed them.

A heavy storm followed by incessant rains blew away their nest, leaving behind the chicks shivering on the ground under the tree.

Mother bird, with food in her beak, frantically looking for them, was immensely pleased to find her children under the wings of the crow, who sat there motionless till she arrived.

She could not believe what she just saw. Unconditional motherly love surpasses all explanations; teary-eyed, she fed them.
