That which lowers itself in modesty—
Is that what they call a glance?
Or the one that reveals
its playful sideways gestures—
Is that called a glance?
When the lover’s eyes meet the beloved’s
and bloom with delight, joy and love—
Is that what they call a glance?
Or when startled
the eyes widen twofold—
Is that called a glance?
Or the one that showers love
and grows moist with tears
when separated souls reunite–
Is that called a glance?
Oh no, my friend,
When one closes the eyelids,
Lifting the inner veil,
illuminates the true self within,
And beholds the Divine at every moment inside—
that alone is true glance.
