I Broke the Mirror

1

I broke the mirror that was staring at me for eons
I’ll not be troubled by those gazing eyes anymore
Although I knew for ages, its proximity disturbs me
I found a confidante in the mirror, in front of me.

There is no one with whom I confide my thoughts
My story is confined in the chambers of my heart
This detachment from the world assuages my soul
I am a spirit that has renounced all temporal roles.

Worldly pleasures, the charm of relations, repel me
The mystic callings from the deep sky propel me
To unshackle from the remnants that I still cherish
And to embark on the journey as a liberated spirit.

The mirror was the last one who was a close aide
That deciphered my expressions as a loyal friend
For a long time, I had nestled in its belongingness
At this twilight, I forsake all, before the sun sets.

Smithereens of this mirror, perhaps bid me adieu
Now, there is no friend who will come to my rescue
Despite being in the lurch, I see a smile in my eyes
A sense of relief, before my soul flies into the sky.
