The Morning Walk

3

The clock strikes five, and I know it is time for me to rise from my slumber

Getting up hastily, performing the usual morning rituals

and sipping on a cup of ginger tea,

I go for a hike in the park nearby,

Feeling charmed by the serenity of nature,

I feel like inhaling its beauty, relaxing for a while

But even Frost had to move on!

For the woods were indeed dark and deep,

But he had miles to go before he went to sleep!

With lush greenery all around and a waterfall in the midst of the park,

Sprinklers put up at regular intervals to quench the thirst of Whitman’s aspiration

Birds and butterflies flying all over,

feeling delighted and proud of their colourful wings,

Squirrels chasing each other as if playing naughty pranks,

I cannot help but feel-

Mother Nature has a magnetic charm, indeed!

Listening to the Shabad of the Gurudwara nearby adds to the spiritual quotient already offered!

My brisk walk is soon halted by a frog that steps on my shoe until I ward it off

The one-hour stride soon ends,

and I come back to my place, feeling rejuvenated

I cannot help but conclude–

Morning Walk is indeed the best serotonin booster!
