To Catch a Rainbow

The morning mists melted in the mellow sunlight,

Piercing the water droplets on the leaves shining bright.

A rainbow was sparkling in the sky,

As if to silver lining justify.
She leaned against the window sill,

Soaking in the warmth of the iron grill.

The letter fluttered  down from the desk,

The words within were almost kafkaesque.
He was missing,’the search is on’,it said.

But like always, she had felt him near her on the bed.

The night was spent drowning in tears,

And the sky had exploded as if echoing her fears.
Hope though always stays afloat,

Seeing the vibrantly colored sky worked as an antidote.

She affirmed to herself, he is a soldier; he is strong,

He will come back to her, where he belongs.
She remembered the wise words again,

‘If you want the rainbow, you have to put up with the rain.’

Smiling to herself she picked up the crumpled sheet,

And sent it flying so it could the cheerful sky meet.
