As the evening sky scintillates in marigold rays
My mind steps back to the days gone by in sundry ways
With the photo album in my hand in the twilight of my life
I plunge into the past, sift the sands of time
For long it remained unseen, being tucked away
As I flip through every page, the mirror reflects the bygone days
The black and white portraits of me, my siblings, and my parents are my prized possessions
Gazing at the colored photos of my own family I find happy recreation
I can almost see them, hear their voices, feel them close to me
Their radiant smiles remind me how happy we used to be
Like Vesuvius, my emotions surge, swell and erupt
All in different shades unleashed and liberated, they dance
Venturing on a journey down the highway of my past
I find that sands of time trickle on, but memories forever last
Hues of happiness explode like the rays from the sun
Together we had created a world where now I can find my loved ones
Every page is a flashback of days long past
Our hopes, our dreams, our heritage, all safe and made to last
Wisdom and experience has taught me again and again
Retrospection is a solace, a joy, not a loss, forever again.
