The Elixir of life…water: A poem by Bhargavi Ravindra

The Sun shone behind a tiny patch of cloud on otherwise clear Blue
Rays peeping out splendid and magnificent…casting a magical hue
And suddenly, the mighty cloud overpowered and had it covered
My hands stretched out to tease the wind, by minute growing wild.

A tiny drop fell on my palm …a pearl?
Gods in heaven opened the flood gate?
Pristine blue water cascading down in rush to honor the date!

To plant a kiss on her cheeks, the cloud embraced the Earth,
Trees danced in gay abundance to a rhythmic beat, a spectacular joyous burst of drops on Earth,
I rushed out to feel drops on my face, to hold in my cupped palm.

Water…The colorless… odorless…shapeless
Awestruck I saw -water imbibing color, odor and shape all in one stroke …how wonderful!

The divine bliss – visible in all three states….how marvelous
The string of tiny drops adorns farmer’s forehead…how beautiful
Tears gushing out of eyes…happy or sad….how blissful!

There I stood drenched in my thoughts ..my hope soaring high to hold the rainbow
Saw, Water cutting through obstacles on its path, majestically as it flows
The Sun once again shone on the mountain, on the sea, on the land casting an alluring glow.

The parched Earth had her fill of nectar
She bowed her head in reverence to the Elixir of Life ….Water!
