Mirage of Hope: A Poem by Lolita Bhattacharya

Hearts that used to beat as one

Are now distant, sullen and taciturn.

Life when burdened under heavy expectations

Bury feelings without communication.

Stony silence engulfs the soul, like a moonless sky

Pain echoes deep, a mournful sigh.

Silent tears bring the night apart

When dreams are scattered in parts.

Silence that grip the lips

When words are exchanged in a slip.

Life becomes a hollow shell

When joy fails to dwell.

Yet, a mirage of hope brings a flicker of life

Closing the chasm of emptiness with faith combined.
