For The First Time In My Life: A Poem by Anwesha Bhattacharya

Those priceless moments, waiting with bated breath,
To hear you utter the sacred words,
That still resonate with every beat of my heart,
That very first time we were struck as lovebirds!

Me, as a newbie bride,
Under a canopy of star spangled dreams,
The rosy hued blush when our eyes met,
The first time we bathed in the night’s gleam!

The newfound joy of conception,
When you breathed in me a new life,
Your tiny fingers clasping mine,
A happy ending to all my strife!

Enduring life between crests and troughs,
Praying to even out all the odds,
With a grateful heart I knelt before thee,
For the very first time I sang in your applause…

Life became a celebration of so many first times,
Uncountable, unlisted, they passed in the reels of memory,
Until every first time became a milestone,
Woven with recollections of a lifelong story!
