Small steps go a long way in creating a big difference. When we started the POD section in the magazine three years ago, we hadn’t anticipated the impact it would have on society, but we continued to cover the stories of POD children, their parents and caregivers, the changemakers and their efforts. We even compiled the stories in the form of the book “Wings of Hope”, which is available on Amazon. And today, when we look back at all our efforts in the last year, from March 2024 to Feb 2025, we are only motivated to continue walking this path. Here’s a synopsis of our articles in POD section in the last one year. Thanks to everyone who contributed in any manner.
Over the past year, ALSphere Magazine has had the privilege of sharing inspiring stories of incredible individuals who are redefining the boundaries of possibility. People with special needs face unique challenges, but they are also capable of achieving extraordinary feats.
Through our articles, we’ve delved into the journeys of these remarkable individuals, highlighting their triumphs, struggles, and support systems. We’ve explored the transformative impact of holistic practices like yoga, social meetups, and community-building initiatives that foster connections, inclusivity, and a sense of belonging.
Our coverage has included numerous success stories of People of Determination (PoD), showcasing their inspiring journeys and diverse experiences. We’ve celebrated the union of Vignesh and Ananya, a couple with Down syndrome who met on a networking platform, and highlighted the importance of yoga sessions, life skills training, and social gatherings in empowering PoDs.
We’ve also met remarkable individuals like Prajwal Halery, who’s striving for workplace inclusion, and Tanay Shah, whose determination and passion for cooking have inspired countless people. The achievements of Affan Hashmi, who’s broken records and defied expectations, have also been celebrated.
The Special Olympics UAE Games demonstrated the transformative power of sports in empowering PoDs, while our coverage of environmental awareness highlighted the importance of inclusivity in creating a sustainable future. A carnival that brought together people with special needs and senior citizens was a powerful tool for promoting inclusion, social cohesion, and community engagement.
The People of Determination community has taught us valuable lessons about resilience, hope, and the power of inclusivity. We look forward to continuing our journey of sharing their inspiring stories and promoting a more inclusive and compassionate society.
