All I think about is you: A poem by William Warigon

I am here fighting this senseless war

Surrounded by misery and despair
Daily darkness within me tends to grow
I can’t be here because I can’t bear

Each second, I think of you
Each fleeting minute is a millennium
Without me holding you
This loneliness is not an honorarium

The guns spitting their anger
Grenades keep busting our balls
Yet, I worry not of the danger
Your thoughts fill my hearts walls
Thinking of you keeps the dark days bright
Cold nights lose their terror
When your face flashes to brighten my night
Then I smile like the Pharaoh

The thoughts of you keep drifting by
I long for the war to be over
To be with you’d  be a heavenly sigh
You are my all, my only lover
