The border speaks: A poem by Lalita Vaitheeswaran

I stand tall undeterred like a mountain
Made of metal barbs I’m also called a fence
Wearing my cap of patriotism for my nation
I become the first line of defense

My heart is made of rocks they say
Not a pore to  let enemies through me ever
But I change into a soft bubble
When it comes to love, heart or those you rever!

I let every emotion every ray of love pass
Between lovers, music and the child
I disappear and let love rule without fear
I let their love blossom wild

Doctors call me a personality split
Where I  become Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde
What they don’t know is that I change consciously
And I do this wholeheartedly with pride.
