The court room: A poem by Priya Washikar

He stood dejected in the court today
He just couldn’t believe his ears
The false abuses she hurled at him
She, his wife of just over a year

It had been a few blissful months
Then came disparities and blame game
He tried hard to gather the broken fragments
But, his life was never the same

Now, suddenly he felt so defenseless
As all the laws were on her side
How he wished he’d never fallen prey
To her beautiful smile and green eyes

He loathed her at that moment
He just couldn’t help notice her roguish grin
Her accusing words had killed
Whatever little hope he had within

Sadly, he’d to let go everything that was his
He could tell none about his pain
A victim of her wicked intentions
Dismally he’d lost the wish to love again
