Whodunnit– Shadows of the Forgotten Manor

As the moon cast eerie shadows, Detective Suboohi found herself at the forgotten Manor along the coast. Rumours were there, that a young lady had an untimely death, that too suspicious of a homicide. So, she decided to investigate the matter and solve the mystery. With a plan in her mind, she entered the manor, to reveal the truth.

Clue 1: A dirty handkerchief

In the manor’s store room, Suboohi discovered a dirty handkerchief, scraped behind the almirah. She picked it up, and saw two names embroidered over it, the name of that young lady, who had gone missing and his lover. So, she kept it in her bag, thinking that this might be the key to the mystery.

Clue 2: Hidden Diary

Then she moved towards another room, and found a bedroom, decorated beautifully with paintings and wallpapers. When she put her hands on right sided wall, it displaced slightly and showed the way to a hidden compartment where she saw a diary penned by the same missing lady, Shipra. Her entries, initially of lovey-dovey chitchats, later transformed to the arguments between her and her lover, hinting at secrets, treachery, and her sudden disappearance.

Clue 3: Undercroft

Exploring further, she moved towards the courtyard, and stumbled upon something hard. When she pressed it, it made its way towards an undercroft. She was scared, but with courage and a sense of determination, she entered there.

Clue 4: Painting of Shipra

Within the hidden room, Suboohi found a painting of Shipra, well framed with wooden texture. She turned that painting, and saw a letter stashed in that frame. When she uncovered that letter, she found that it was a confession from Shipra’s lover, how little arguments turned into a heated one, and how he killed Shipra.

Solution:

Piecing together the evidence, and with a clear confession written by Shipra’s lover, Suboohi concluded that her lover grew obsessed with her, and tried to control her in every possible way, which Shipra didn’t like. So, he lured her to the undercroft, to make a painting, and finally a heated confrontation turned fatal. Fearing discovery, he concealed her body and fled.

Finally, with her deductive skills, Suboohi tracked down the lover, and after an intense confrontation, he confessed the crime, and justice was finally served.
