Unanswered Questions: A Poem by Mousumee Baruah

Who am I, Why, and how am I?

Why do I  dream and what is a subconscious, conscious life?

Overwhelmed with myriad emotions,  we fall in love, feel happy, sad, smile, and cry!

Is death a deep slumber or is there an afterlife?

Want to know if plants and birds also have the power of imagination.

How do birds know to return to their nest in the twilight?

Why do waves love the shore and why do brooks, and rivers flow towards the ocean?

Who soaks lissome flowers with fragrance and why do fireflies shine at night?

My mind is like an insoluble mysterious universe.

Where many thoughts revolve and invaded

Tries to orbit the invisible invincible omnipotent orb to know the essence of life’s journey we traverse.

Why from my heart do memories never fade?

Like a mysterious black hole of the cosmos from where light cannot escape once enters inside.

Like a magnetic  Bermuda triangle, which pulls ships and planes in the Atlantic ocean and where mysticism thrives.

Want to know if I am the only one or if there is someone like me in a hypothetical parallel world outside.

Like earth who  wanted  to know if she is  the   only planet where there is  life

Who is invisible pulling power like gravity who keeps our feet firmly on the soil?

So many puzzles, but let’s not brood much as life is terse charisma.

Let me remain content with what I know and what I  gaze at, without much toil.

As the moon is breathtaking with craters, life is beautiful with an enigma.
