Lucky Star: A Poem by Sangeetha Kamath Prabhu

I sailed tempestuous seven seas and battled gusting typhoons

Traversed the painted skies and a million miles

Just to see you with your signature dazzling smile

It’s in the sway of your grace as you pirouette to your favorite music

In the lilt of your voice as you trill songs fantastic!

With lovelorn eyes, you await my arrival

They speak a million things to me like a jukebox at a carnival

The cocoon of your embrace and your sideward glance

Sends electric waves, I with abandon prance!

It’s in the cookies that you bake, my early morning smoothie, and berry shakes

In the little notes that you write and little trinkets, you pack

When you surprise and stun me without a reason

You’re the only one I go to, my man for every season!

Every nook and cranny holds memories of your smiling sprinkle

I raise a fine toast to you as champagne glasses tinkle

You cherish me with fervor, your smile is etched when you remember my favorite color

My likes, my dislikes or my discomfort you sense

I’m so glad we’re more than just friends!
